Agriculture is a dynamic factor in the Cuban economy by requiring the development of other branches that complete the production cycle.

To promote the performance of agriculture in Cuba, the Cuban government has implemented agricultural policies related to economic incentives and access of producers to financing, inputs, agricultural markets, technology, among others.

Land ownership is mostly held by the state, although only 31.2% of the land is managed by state entities, while 68.8% is managed by non-state forms such as cooperatives and private farmers).

Tobacco

Premium Cuban tobacco, the Habano, enjoys international recognition for its unmatched quality and an advantageous position before the competition. It is a product that has a high demand in the market of greater economic power among smokers. Associated with the prestige of its portfolio of brands and the Cuban tobacco leaf, other productions are developed for the export of mechanized tobacco and cigarettes.

Citrus fruits

Fresh citrus fruits (orange and grapefruit), concentrated and simple juices, essential oils are products with experience and consolidated markets.
Cuba is carrying out a program of renovation of its citrus plantations, open to foreign investment as the country lacks sufficient financial resources, said a source in the sector.
The head of the fruit business division of the Agricultural Business Group of the Ministry of Agriculture, Emilio Farret, said that the country renews with its own resources about a third of the demand in this sense, consisting of about 6 thousand hectares per year.

Fruits

Coffee

The export is mainly made with Arabica type Superior coffee (Crystal Mountain, Extra Turquino, Turquino and Height). The main customer is Japan; Also sold to France, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Germany and other countries in Europe.
